Overview
A tourism board wanted the city to feel unmissable in ninety seconds. Our two-person film unit spent six days chasing light across rooftops, rivers, and boulevards — flying 34 planned setups, from slow skyline reveals to low river runs — and delivered a hero film plus 22 social cuts.
The challenge
Downtown sits inside controlled airspace with a stadium no-fly window on match days, and the brief demanded both golden-hour warmth and neon night energy. Every setup needed authorization, a backup weather slot, and a ground angle that matched the aerial story.
Our approach
We pre-visualized all 34 shots, secured rolling authorizations for three altitude bands, and flew dawn units for skylines, midday units for river and park texture, and blue-hour units for the night plates. The director reviewed proxies nightly; two setups were re-flown for stronger light.
- 90-second hero film in 4K with licensed score
- 22 vertical and square social cuts
- 120+ graded stills for print and outdoor
- Full commercial license, broadcast cleared
Outcome
The hero film opened the board's summer season launch and ran across transit screens citywide; the stills library is still supplying their print campaigns a year later.
From Above
"They didn't just fly well — they thought in edits. The footage cut together almost before the grade."
